リコール情報で対象台数が多いのは、2005年7月から12月に生産された車両の一部に見られる前席シートベルトの不具合。対象車両の場合、整備手帳で対策品に交換されているか要確認。また、乱暴に走られた物件は少ないが、内外装のチェックは必須。ごく希にインパネ付近からの異音やエアコンからのにおいが気になるという声が聞かれる。</div>

2007年10月のマイチェン以降は、走行性能や質感が大幅に向上した。しかし流通量は全体の2割程度で、探すのはかなり困難。早く手に入れたいなら、2007年式以前に狙いを定めよう。特に2006年式以前は、相場が200万円台からとだいぶ下がっているので手が出しやすいはず。グレード別ではGS350が最も豊富で、GS430も比較的物件数がある。</div>

2007年12月のマイチェン後モデルはかなり少ないので、それ以前で探すのが現実的だ。最も豊富なのは350GTだが、ここはあえて450GTを狙いたい。333psというポテンシャルもさることながら、本革シートやSRSカーテンエアバッグを標準とするなど、充実した装備が魅力だ。

マイチェン後だと流通量がかなり少なく、探すのは困難だ。マイチェン前はモノグレードでの展開だったが、だからこそパッケージモデルに注目したい。上記のアドバンスパッケージは車線維持をアシストするLKASなどがセットとなっており、運転時の疲労を軽減してくれる。

↑もうすぐ発売予定のアクセラ。今回はセダンに試乗。i-stopが静かに感じるのはアクセラ自体の静粛性が高いことも一因か（左）ハッチバックのリアスタイル（中）マルチインフォメーションディスプレイが用意されていて、ここでエコ感覚を表示。アイドリングストップ約8.4時間で一本という計算で、木が育っていく（右）

<!-- short sentence start -->エコなだけでなく、燃費向上にも役立つアイドリングストップ。にもかかわらず、日本では思ったほど普及していません。それに足並みを揃えるかのように、自動的にアイドリングストップする機構を備えている乗用車は、国産車ではトヨタヴィッツとダイハツミラのみでした。そこにようやく、マツダが参入することになりました。もうすぐ発売される予定のアクセラに、アイドリングストップ機構「i-stop」を備えたモデルを投入するのです。<!-- short sentence end --><br />
それも、従来のアイドリングストップに比べてエンジン始動時間を半分の0.35秒に短縮したと言います。今回、それを搭載したモデルに試乗することができました。<br />

始動時間が短いことは、例えば大きな交差点での右折時に道の途中まで進んで停止し、流れが切れたので進もうとする場合などで非常に有効です。<br />

始動時間が短いだけでなく、同乗しているだけではいつエンジンが止まって、いつ動き出したのかわからないほど、静粛性が高く振動も少ないというのがi-stopの大きな特徴（新型アクセラの静粛性が高いというのもあるようです）。<br />運転に特別なコツは必要ありません。ブレーキを踏んで一定速度以下になればエンジンが止まり、ブレーキペダルからちょっと足の力を抜いた程度でエンジンが再スタートします。<br />
ちなみに「SISS」とは、2007年の東京モーターショー時にマツダが展示した「スマートアイドルストップシステム」の略です。

動画は、運転席の肩付近にカメラを置いて手で固定しています。始動時に、ほんのちょっとだけ振動で画面が揺れますから、気づかなかった方は今一度見てみてください。<br />

この始動時間の短さを可能としたのは、非常にざっくりと言ってしまうと、従来が再始動時にスターターモーターを使ってエンジンを回してから燃焼を始めるのに対し、i-stopは最初からエンジンを燃焼させるという方法を取ったことにあります。それには、まず直噴エンジンが大前提。あとはシリンダーの位置の認識や燃焼室内の空気量確保をコントロールすることなどでi-stopは成り立っています。下記の動画は、i-stopをエンジンの模型で表したものです。<br />

さらにi-stopは、室内が暑すぎて（あるいは寒すぎて）エアコンをガンガンに利かせているような時には、作動しません。エンジンを止めたままエアコンを使うとバッテリーに負担がかかるからです。そのほかドアが開いていたりドライバーがシートベルトをはずしていたりなど、安全ではないと判断したときも作動しないようになっています。またオーナー自身がi-stopをキャンセルすることも可能です。<br />
<br />
i-stopは新型アクセラ以降、順次2L直噴エンジン搭載車に導入される予定です。まずは夏のアクセラに注目しましょう。<br />
