FRスポーツを語る上で欠かせない存在のシルビア。5ナンバーサイズ(S14のみ3ナンバーサイズ)のちょうど良いサイジングと適度なパワー感により、走り好きなファンの高い人気を博しました。<br />
2002年に排ガス規制により、初代P311型から37年続いた歴史に幕が下ろされましたが、ウワサによれば次期モデルの開発が行われているとかいないとか。今回はそんなシルビアシリーズのなかから、最終モデルとなったS15に設定されていた即買い候補を紹介します。<br />

ご存じの方も多いかと思いますが、シルビアには日常での扱いやすさと適度なスポーツ感が味わえるNAモデル(J's、Q's、スペックS)と、サーキット走行も想定しスポーツ性を前面に押し出したターボモデル(K's、スペックR)の2モデルがラインナップされていました。これら2グレードに加えて「ターボモデルとは対極のスポーツモデル」を、という声を具現化したのがオーテックバージョンです。<br />

オーテックバージョンの一番の魅力と言えば、鋭いピックアップとリニアなレスポンスを獲得したパワーユニット＝NAエンジンでしょう。ドライバーの意思(アクセルワーク)に素直に、そして一瞬で反応するエンジンこそ、オーテックバージョン最大の魅力にほかなりません。ベースとなっているのは165psを発生するスペックSのNAエンジン。これに圧縮比アップやフジツボ技研と共同開発された専用のエグゾーストシステムを採用するなどにより200psを発生します。<br />

高回転化されたエンジンに対応するため、バルブタイミングとリフト量のチューニング、コンピュータを適正化するなど、そのチューニング内容に抜かりはありません。また、高められたエンジンパワーを効率良く駆動系に伝達するために、ニスモ製のフライホイールと大径化されたクラッチを採用するなど、パワーユニットのもつ高いポテンシャルをさらに引き出すための工夫がなされています。<br />

ミッションやボディ、シャーシに至るまでもスペックRと同様の6MTと高剛性シャーシ＆ボディが用いられ、サスペンションはスポーツチューンドサスペンションに変更されるなど、その性能は“NA版スペックR”という表現がピッタリ当てはまります。<br />
